Happy Thanksgiving and I pray you have a great holiday during this time. I have a lot to be thankful for, but right now all I can think about is the digital recorder my brother in law let me hold. Its been I don't know how long since I made a mix cd or posted a podcast. The only means of recording I had was the input on my computer that's jacked up and only records the left channel and my cassete deck that hasn't worked for maybe 10 years or so.

Now that I got this component, I'm back in business. Now when the ladies at my kids school ask for a work out mix or a Christmas CD or an old school this that and whatever, I can be like BAM!!. Now I need to get some ink for the printer to make some cool labels and ting! Oh! Yo! I told you I got my cards made right? See?

Now I can't make any excuses. Look forward to my soundcloud poppin and nuff more things before 2012. You see me? I know you can see me now.

Let me just explain myself real quick yeah? My speech is fueled with the queens English, the motherland's patois, the Hip Hop slang and the Rasta code so pardon me if you lose me. Just refer to the aforementioned references and compare phrases. So whe mi ah say? Basically my birthday was Wednesday the 23rd of February and I turned 44 aka my earthstrong aka my birthstrong bka my COKNISTRONG. 44 is culture culture all being born to build and destroy according to Supreme Mathematics. I take all that stuff serious. My culture culture is Raggamuffin Hip Hop. That sounds mad corny to me however it is what it is as they say.
Histrionics as they may, I just know that It seem pon that day deh I go mad love from all corners. Text, Twitter, FaceBook, corners, etc. mad love was just heading my direction. Hundreds people hit me off no exaggeration to give me a birthday shout or whatever. Filled up my love cup no doubt. I was floating by on a natural high.
Right now I'm broke as all get out and I had the intention of getting a cake and bringing it to work to celebrate with my compadres, but I couldn't back it. As blessings go, one of my dudes supported a box of fresh fresh donuts!! Thn after work my man Steve complimented my six of Guinness with a bokkle of Strawberry Stoli. I got charged and got online to play some music for whoever would rope in. I knew The Beatminerz was comin on later. Even though I was zu, I was conscious that they was comin on. I'm nothing if I'm not loyal. The show was fun as you can see on my Ustream channel.

The thing I love probably most about DanceHall is the fact how we did so much for Hip Hop and never beg no recognition. We stay true to our format and its so communal that anybody who catch the vibe run with it and flex and nuh even have to give props to who dem getty from. Its been over a year (still can't believe it) doing this Ustreamness. Its been all that I thought it would be. I play what I wanna play for people all over the world. Met some cool folks and I'm learning from a great network of DJs that we call ONE NATION RADIO. The Most Dangerous @DJMELLSTAR, @BOOGIEBLIND, @DJ_SKINNY, @SISTASTROKE, @DUMMYTHEDJ to name a few who inspire me and have shared their music.
One of our listeners Dooks P from the UK actually gave me some advice about how to format my shows, He simply asked if zi ever thought of a theme? The thing is, I pride myself on not playing predictable formats, but just so that I don't lose anybody including myself, I will share with you the DECENT SOMETHING LISTENING GUIDE.

Sundays at 7PM EST 4PM PST I do my Reggae program. I start with the intro chune "PREPARE" by Luciano and from there for the first half hour I play JAH-centric music. This is music that glorifies the Creator. My ideal is biblical in which you seek the LORD first and then everything after. I used to practice RastafarI and Islam and even though I am Christian I haven't canceled out my allegiance to Rasta or Allah. My belief is Ras Tafari is Christ in His Kingly character and Allah means more than our concept of God. Much bigger than our human physical understanding. (Pardon me for proselytizing. We can talk about that on a later date.)

The next 15 minutes I play some crucial roots music. The intro song is "Roots" - Bob Marley. After that on the East it oughta be 7:45 so I start play pure 7" 45s for the next 15 minutes. My joints rep my whole show as I juggle from Ragga to Rocksteady to Roots to Dub to Ska to Classics. At the top of the hour its FIRETIME at 8PM so its time to shake off the crosses and have a good time for a half then its all about ROCKERS (Lovers Rock, Rocksteady, Classics and the like.)
Glory to GOD I have been getting great response. Thanks again Dooks P, Richie Criss and my wife and Queen for helping me structure the program.

On ALIVE ON ARRIVAL Mondays 2PM EST I set it off with GOSPEL (Not the stuff that made you wanna leave church but the stuff that make you wanna got to church in the first place. Every Thursday in Lower East Side Manhattan my peoples Deadly Dragon Sound do a thing called Downtown Top Rankin. On the 27th of May I was graced to rock with them the night I hit NY. My cousin Phil [@MrArchersNYC] came with and caught about 3 trains from Queens to get to the LES.

The night was beautiful and the crowd was diverse as me nuh know wha. I reunited with my bredren J Debeck[@jDeadlyDragon], my man Scratch Famous [@deadlydragon], my boy Mr. K and my sista Queen Majesty [@thequeenmajesty]. Big up my man Ademola [@molarola] and Select came through there people making it a One Love Jamdown.

NY York Trip

On the 27th of May I went to NY all courtesy of my cousin @Mr ArchersNYC who I affectionately refer to as Phil. I had a gig when I arrived with Deadly Dragon Sound at Happy Ending in the Lower East Side. The event was an intimate reggae affair. Selectors Scratch Famous, Queen Majesty, Mr. K, and J Debeck represented magnificantly. I wasn't too bad either. Salute.
I planned my trip in a way that I wouldn't be burnt out an that wouldn't miss certain folks. Only things I was scheduled for was the gig with Deadly Dragon Thursday, live broadcast with the Beatminerz on Saturday and their birthday party at club Sutra on Sunday. Since I didn't have anything pressing on Friday, I thought I would just chill and got to Cambria and see my old school crew and the houses I grew up in. I hadn't been out there in 20 odd years and its the illest feeling walkin down the block where you learned to ride a bike, used to trick a treat on. It was a good feeling. Went to my old PS and IS which they have changed to MS.
The Ave hasn't changed. Its still hustly. Had a gotta slice of pizza and my favorite soda GUINNESS.

Walking down the Ave seeing races I haven't seen from when reminded how diverse the environment I come from is and is probably why I'm so crazy. Also I think I saw four fights in a day and 3 car accidents. One cat screamed on a girl saying "I'm supposed to be scared of you because you have an ugly face?!" I LOVE NY! New York, Jamaica and England are the only places I know where you can go to the store and buy one beer or up to five out of the six pack if you wanted to. Can't do that in TX . Well not in Dallas (maybe Houston). Still.

yea man I like that song by that nigga. Decent Something Sunday was unexpectedly better than I thought it was gonna be. I started the day getting everybody up and ready for church, then my me and the queen had a "discussion" before we went in the church house. I already took the kids into their Sunday School situations so the wife and I could worship without distractions. You know kids like to go to the bathroom and carry on various shegry and nuh love sit still. Anyway, the Queen and I were having a hearty talk and then when we got into the sanctuary the pastor (Dr. Tony Evans) was beginning to get down and his first words were on point with where we were spiritually.
Basically there is power that we have authority to access and engage, but we don't. We may want this or that and pray for it but we were enlightened that what the LORD has for you has already been given we just outside of the spiritual reality of what's going on like the matrix you know?
Pastor Evans gave the perfect illustration of the electric company that has already put power into your house, but you call them and say, "TURN MY LIGHTS ON! TURN MY FRIDGE ON! TURN MY TV ON!" The electric might hang up on you because you buggin. Its not their job to turn on what you been provided with. Its ON YOU to make a move to get it on.
Marinate on that and I'll probably speak more on that on REIGN CHECK Tuesday. GOD UP!

I'm Rev Runnin. Blogging from my phone so o won't have any excise to not do my dailies. Well as long as I keep the phone on. Which brings me to what I been trying to push on DECENT SOMETHING. I need help with what I want to accomplish. There is no support at this time. No sponsors or advertisers. My shows have integrity so I don't get money from certain people because of their agenda which is in contrast to mine. My agenda has always been unity and building the Kingdom of The Most High. The people who log in to my show, chat up the chatroom, leave comments, send me messages on facebook and twitter and most effective, DONATE. My equipment is in bad need of repair and I need help with utility costs.

I have a great job at UPS. It's part-time so I'm not earning as much as I need for extra-curricking, but it does alot me the time to do what I wanna do during the day since it's a graveyard shift. Honestly, I hate work but who doesn't. Like Guru said, I got some tallent so do you hear my point.

I'm up in this warehouse right now full of dust and noise from conveyors and trucks. I keep my headphones on to study what I'm gonna play on the next show and I'm motivate to buss up the shiffin row and get out ta here to hit the Decent Studio.

My pastor said if you gotta a job that you hate going to but do it because it's good money then it's not a good job. Resentment will prevail and we will express it on the less deserving and innocent (spouse, kids, people driving on the parkway). I encourage you to do what you love.

If it's not the time for whatever reason, pray for that time. And if you have the time but you're sitting in front of the screen with Cheetos, manage your time don't waste it. We can't make time. Time keeps moving. You can only make yourself be on time.

One of the greatest things that I've learned and applied was actually the old Sticks and Stones adage. I revisited it through Steve Harvey who said one of the best things you can do for yourself is to not let what people say, think, or do effect you to the point it changes your mood or prevents your progress even if that person is yourself. Its a very empowering practice and it can save you time by getting you outta certain ruts if you are a sensitive person like I am. My man Mr. Walt used to crash me with jokes and i started to take it to heart but not anymore. Its just a joke and even if he was dead ass, its still what he says from his view it doesn't make it the truth about me absolute. You see what I'm saying. If it didn't make you don't let it break you. That's what I was talking about on REIGN CHECK last Tuesday

BECOMING DECENT SOMETHING

Peace and Blessings! Just wanted to briefly update you on the changes being made to the programming on my station. Currently there are 3 shows that I control and I intend to add an UMOJA show a KPL show and an ELPD show. This is turning out to be a great year. Now that BDS is Black history, we now rep ONE NATION RADIO. There is still a tinge of politicks but I'm not gonna meditate on it. Strictly concentrating on progress.

Mondays is Alive on Arrival which I'm gonna start do on Tuesdays as well. The Tuesday show is gonna be called REIGN CHECK and its gonna be more of a talk show format like Mama Chula Wednesdays and Cynical Linden on Sunday. I'm gonna build podcasts from the music played on Monday and Tuesday.

Beginning Saturday April 10, 2010 the musical thing called the LUNCH MONEY PODCAST will debut where I cater to my folk in the UK and fam across the Atlantic. I will be archiving and podcasting that show but the Monday and Tuesday shows will not be archived. I'm determined to provide quality programming and as I am not paid a salary for it, your donations and participation keep the how going. Right now I'm suffering with low memory on my machine causing it to frequently glitch and freeze.

February a kick off well yes? The First was Dennis Emanuel Brown, The Prince of Reggae's Birthday. Saturday The 6th was Roberta Nesta Marley, The King of Reggae's and Sunday the 7th was James D Yancy aka Jay Dee aka J Dilla aka Dilla Dawg's BDay. Not to mention The New Orleans Saints victory over the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV (Extra Live!). I played a tribute to all these champs by representing the rebellious revolutionary presentation they put forward to win.

Nuff respect to my sister Sweetbacck, My dude Thessalonious, BuzzaBuzz, BiggermanJaro, MamaLioness the whole Beatminerz and De La Soul Dugout camp. More people were watching the game than interacting in the chat room as expected but the forementioned people kept the energy LIVE. Also gotta big up DJ Esquire and Mr. Walt who set it off earlier on BeatMinerz radio. Amazing vibe that day It would appear that the celebration was received by the ancestors because the day was so blessed. I pray that the rest of the week is as beautiful. I was listening to the Ricky Smiley Show for the firs time in a long time. Pastor Haynes came on and had a real good message. The message was whatever negative thing anyone has to say about you or your project is something you shouldn't give any concern to. He said it wasn't our business but their business! When I heard that I was like YEAH because them haters don't know me they just know what they see and what they witness in the past or heard but it still ain't first of all and definitely far from my future.

Not too many people have said daunting things toward me but the few that have really hurt me to the core, but me nah let that happen after this. So I hope you are blessed from reading this because I personally know a lot of y'all are more than what I see. I see some ill business owners some sick artists and producers that soon run them owner thing.

Last year there started a movement with the 3 made men stations on Ustream.tv that I was messing with. Beatminerz Radio, DeLa Soul's Dugout, and Scratchvision.com formed BDS. Others such as myself thought that was great. It was a movement that unified the music that was made by the guys that were also the DJs for their stations. It also included all that were affiliated such as BeatJunkies, Justice League, Soul Assasins and The Funhouse in the UK.

There have been legendary broadcasts of an intimate session with Mos Def on the De La Soul's Dugout, a dope interview with KRSONE and Bumpy Knuckles What could go wrong? Nobody was getting paid, you ain't have to pay to enjoy the broadcasts and what it was doing in essence was bring us closer to the fans and bringing us fans closer to the cream of hip hop. Obviously there's the matter of marketing and brand building that shouldn't be ignored, but all that can pop without getting in the way of BDS business. Or as it would seem.

First thing to go awry was Scratch's situation with his personal relationship with Spinderella which someone felt was not supposed to sit well with anyone on Scratchvision. It erupted into the site getting shut down and all kinda awkwardness which I never signed up for. Scratch not one to be bullied by terrorism, rose above the negativity an relaunched his site and kept it all live and intact. I like Scratch. He's a champ from the hood winning the Battle for World Supremacy as a DJ back in the day and elevating the sound of one of the best rap groups in history, EPMD. Scratch also has an enormous catalog of songs that he produced and another credit to him was when ask in a issue of Scratch magazine who his favorite producer was he gave it up to Jay Dee/J Dilla. Scratch aka The Prez aka Superman aka Jason aka Immaculate Hands is a superstar and at times he comes off conceited. I don't see him like that. He should boost up himself. I learned a lot from him and when I met him at Beatminerz studio he gave me mad love.

Scratch is about getting that dough and he about the culture. The culture of staying fly which is a big a part of hip-hop that a lot of cats either ignore or so it wrong, but everybody wants to be fly. His studio is fly, his approach to the game is fly, and he got the fly line up on his show. DJ June, Spinna, Kenny Dope and he got a ill sex-Ed show Toy Chest with BK Mami Crazy Toy Lady and one of my favorite DJs, Mocha Sunflower of the BeatMinerz.

De La Soul's Maseo heads The Dugout and out of all the stations, its my favorite to visit. The Dugout has a positive vibe. They play all types of music uncut and touch on all types of topics but somehow the vibe of the show is always positive. Freddie Foxxx aka Bumpy Knuckles aka The OG was ushered in on The Dugout. Through this exposure I got to see Bumpy in a different light. I was always intimidated by his presence as well as one should be, but in The Dugout he came off mad more approachable and he mad more talent than I would of ever realized. He was always cool with me. Hit me up from time to time with advice on how I could enhance my broadcast and ting. Good yout.

BDS IS THE MOVEMENT. Until ...

Maseo called me and told me he wasn't with it no more. He felt Scratch didn't allow anyone access to co-host and then worst part was when he announced that him and Bumpy was through. Maseo patiently expressed where his allegiance was and let be know if anything happened to him or his family that it would be on Bumpy. I was like whoa as you might of been. All I know is I don't know WTF is going on. I'm just about this music and its mission. I'm praying for all this to squash and squelch, but in the meantime its just BDS for what it means to me:

Friday the 20th of November I dedicated the Otee-O Show to my brother William Wilson aka Crazy Bill aka CERONE TPA. He was the cat that I met on the Q4 bus with Uncle Rock. I was in the back of the bus with one of my boys. I had to be about 15 and I had a copy of the Wild Style soundtrack album I just bought. Cer asked to see it and then said thank you and got off the bus. So I just got taxed but it was an honor being vicked by a legend. Cer represented the crew The Public Animals. You could see their work all over New York. They bombed parks, buildings, buses, trains, you know.

Cer lived off Linden in my neighborhood of Cambria Heights, Queens so he couldn't do dirt and not be seen around to get ya stuff back. I didn't want my stuff back; I wanted to BOMB. He put me under the wing. I met all the writers I looked up to and the sad but true thing was they were all criminals.

I'm thankful still because I had actual life death experiences that kept me out of prison and I share things with my kids to prepare them to avoid the the tricks and traps.

Crazy Bill was gunned down in Kingston, Jamaica where he had been deported to. After being robbed the bastards sprayed the cab he and a lady were in. I know Bill he wasn't a sucker and I believed he was unarmed but still a threat to them fassies that took his life. I'm never gonna get over the losses this year, but I trust the LORD's purpose for whatever He allows to happen. In the end it will all make sense

Decent Something 11/15/09

Trust me this is one of the wickedest shows I ever done. I'd like to believe that I just get better with time but the truth is I get better with routine. I have to discipline myself to practice and prepare a show that is above standard. Its not enough to just play classics or new chune. I want to provide a fresh approach, presentation and performance to the good good people who take time out of their Sunday to watch me spin record like a rass rock back idiot.

Starting All Over Again It's Gonna Be Rough

BUMBO what a ting! My hard drive failed on me and just shut down without warning. So I lost a lot of stuff. Or so I think. I know I had all my music backed up on an external but there's some Serato situations that I'm at a current loss for. All the vinyl rips that I did I never backed up. All my little iChat business I think is dead.

Okay its today right now and a lot of progress has been made. from the previous paragraph I can see that I over reacted a bit. Things are pretty intact. I still have an issue with the pictures, but the spirit is telling me to not worry and and dive into freedom. So... OK DEN.

I still have to build up my Serato library and prep a Otee-O and a Decent Something show. I'm a try and do that today, but man did I lose some cool rips and effects. Let me stop complaining and loafing and let me get down to the business. Plus The Office coming on so there aint really that much time to tarry.

After I take the red pill, I'm a take another lude which is Jailbreaking my phone. Babu got me amp about it and I'm not as scared as I used to be. Plus my warranty is dead so no worries on that. Next time I write I should have a JB'd phone and some new order on my machine. Umoja!!

I'm 42. I been this age since February. Yea I'm old. I don't feel old, but I know I'm not 16. I have lived in NY, LA, and now I'm in TX. I love Hip Hop and Dance hall. It's so intrinsic in my life. I grew up around block parties. I used to hear the music blaring out my building in The Bronx. In Queens I witnessed the Albino Twins around the corner from me KILL the microphone. I was a human B-BOX and rocked with LL Cool Jay and Rozell before they had demo tapes.

I built with Divine Styler the Freestyle Fellowship, The Pharcyde, The Born Jamericans, Sammy Levi, Scringer Ranks, Shabba, Stereo One with Stitchie and Papa San, Frick and Frack, Biz Markie, The Beatminerz, Grand Puba, Tribe Called Quest and all types of other niggas.
I ain't writing my life story here. I will do a book and a flick. Two a them matter fact. I just wanted to encourage you and myself who are blessed to get old in this dangerous world to know who you are and make the most of your experiences. The LORD has led me to be a DJ after I been an MC a breakdancer a graffiti artist, a record exec and a music retailer. I believe it's my calling and I know something big is going to happen through my efforts.

I'm looking forward to it and you oughta too. SALUTE all my DJ's and Music lovers, Artists, producers who think they have gotten too old to do them. You might not be in position to do what you want and at that time you might have to come to grips and let it go. But when you know you doing what you supposed to do regardless of how contrary it may be to popular belief, trust your maker and thank Him because His Will Be DONE! BONG BOOM KABOOM

Another great show. Dedicated to Jam Master Jay. The show starts about 14 seconds late, but once it going it starts kicking up. I went in on the funk, hip hop, drum n bass and rock.

I kinda took it a little easier on the visuals, but I know what I'm a run next show which is Nov 1st with the DECENT SOMETHING dedicated to the first creation that Jah made after he made everything and saw something that wasn't good. He corrected it by creating WOMAN. Thank you Jesus!! And THANK YOU FOR CHECKING FOR ME

This was one of the best shows. It started on time and ended on time. Actually BeatMinerz Boss Lady Be-Lovely chided me to play for another 15 minutes and I humbly obliged, but I didn't record that part. The regulation show was too dope.
The reason why it was so hot was because we prayed before I went in. My wife prayed for me with the kids Sunday and it was so beautiful and inspiring that I couldn't got to the studio and be a schmuck. Almost every show I've had technical problems. This show ws no exception. The video froze, but the LORD rebuked it and things went back to normal. At the end of the broadcast I cut off Serato so I could disconnect my HD, but I got a message saying I had to shut down! I don't remember seeing anything like that before. Not that big of deal, but if Serato didn't back up my playlist then I wouldn't remember or improve on what i played. Maybe the LORD didn't want me to rely on that because the show was so special and shouldn't be duplicated, but I know He wants me to improve.
A couple of songs had cussing in it but for the most part the show was loaded with clean classics. The goal is to have clean programming that's why it's called DECENT SOMETHING.
I also want to say that much of the digital music was contributed by DEADLY DRAGON SOUND, FEDERATION SOUND, JOHNNY WONDER, UMOJA, DJ DESTROYER and DJ SELECT.

This is so far a ridiculously nice year. Music I can't tell you how much I love it and thank my LORD and Savior Jesus Christ for His grace allowing me to partake in this ministry.

Quick Notes. I want to make sure I cover my skill with Serato the removal from club hawking, the rebirth of the Outta Order Hour with Decent Something, Alive on Arrival and The OteeO Show.

Man I'm thankful how God has blessed me with people early in my life that was about music in a community setting, specifically Mr. Walt the Beatminer from Music Factory was kind enough to give me a shot on this online radio station. Maseo from DeLa got the Dugout poppin and they wanted a reggae show and Walt put me on. It can only get better.

I got a wikkid support group of Tomas of Umoja, Nature of Central Booking and Max Glazer of the mighty Federation Sound keeping me up on things while they represent on the frontline while I sort of geriatrically play the back. Rakka is hollering and it's beautiful how the Beat Junkies are also kind enogh to not cut they boy off like so many for no reason has. And I nah forget my baby sister Mona Lisa kudos and all that she doing her thing trong trong this year. See it?

Pod-casting with my PNC (Partners In Culture)

A week before the Yuletide bustle, Umoja agreed to do a Pod-cast of mixes setting it off on the day of Umoja 12/26 and have each of the seven members represent a principle of Kwanzaa. Whadyou got Nia= Purpose, Kujilaclijah - (I forgot. Oh yea ...) = Self Determination, Kuumba = Creativity, Ujamma=Cooperative Economics, Imani = Faith, Ujima = Creative Work & Responsibility, and of course, Umoja = Unity.

I was real excitd about this because being that I am not on the west coast anymore, I miss playing with my friends. Thanks to technology, we are able to do like a Star Trek transporter and be at the same place at the same time electronically.

The first cat out the gate was Stevie G who is one of the newest members

he out in Bali right now peacing. His mix was crazy as well as the artwork he chose to post with it. Daz got busy next with the style of soul in which he do well. Then Jun got bananas with it. Tomas tore it down then I did mine that was murder if I don't say so myself. Wait did a wait pon D and B and I don't mean Drum and Bass I mean Culture D and BeLove. All now Be Love hasn't surfaced, but Culch got his in. still waiting on you C. Step up front!

My son is no joke. He driving Mama crazy, but I tell her nuh fi a fret because him is bwoy and ah so bwoy stay from time to time. He be doing ish like talking back, throwing trucks atchu, making incessant demands as if to say this is his house and we live here. Like freestyle fellowship we will not tollerate beatings on blacks gonna get my gat. My belt that is if he is ever outta place or disrespectful. His personality is becoming more and more defined. He's a raggamuffin like him faddah.
As parents the challenge we're faced with is raising unbiasley. Can't let none of our pickney slide into slackness. So if he speaks harshly to one of us. We check him and remind to whom which they speak, but we don't blast back because where's the lesson in that. I can't front I blast all the time so pray for me as I grow to the father I am to be.

The order of discipline should be:

Tell them directly what behavior is unacceptable and informed of consequence whatever that may be if performance is repeated.
Administer discipline at the point they decide to do opposite of previous instructions.
Sentencing by age (5 minute time out for 5 year old, 7 licks for the 2nd grader, etc.)

We have a big responsibility to raise the next Nobel Peace Prize winner or the guy who wants to run you out the fast lane on the freeway.

Oh! What a way me love do wah me do B. The man called Kid Capri said from when that DJs are forever sought after because people will always want to hear music or enjoy some new sounds. Even though there are a billion DJs on the planet Earth, still feel like I am the only one like a me.
Right ya now I wanna big up youth like DJ Nature, Sober, and Select who worthly hold the fort down in Dallas. As a longtime, I can appreciate what them man deh do and how much work they commit to making the party live.

Labor night they hosted GZA at the Loft and put me on to MC in the open while Sober spun the sickest of classics. I had on my old ass Wu shirt that I got from Bigga B back in '94 and drank 2 juice, 1 bill and a water and was ready fi tell dem bludKlot dis ...
Me just laugh and shot dem. Promoting a good time and no loc up ting. Got all 8 of the girls on the floor and the rest of the niggiz dem start to get in line. When doggie dropped the Black Moon and the Mobb Deep and the Das plus the DITC, I just had to get sick widdy and start salute all area and region.

MCing down here is a little different/ I don't know if it's because I didn't grow up here or they just don't respond to what cats in NY, LA, UK, JA, TOK, FLA respond to. Like they don't seem to care about there hood or that they in TX that much, but HIGH SCHOOLS and TEAMS? Forgeddahboudditt! Killah Priest got on stage and the first thing he asked was there any Cowboy fans to a tumultuous "Hell Yeah!" I got to remember that next joint.

Recently I got an opportunity to do a weekly at a sportsbar playing country, eighties, rock, and top 40. The music was no problem, but they said I wasn't on the mic enough so I lost the gig. Could you imagine they wanted more mic? The thing is I'm not a sportscaster, I'm and MC. I move crowd, control mic, master the ceremony. Basically, I perform best at parties. This sportsbar thing was dead stock to me. Eventhough it paid well and all that, I couldn't just dry hump the dance to get it poppin to their liking, so let that go.
Speaking of let go, me and my man Luminba was doing a thing called Let Go at theSouth Dallas Cultural Center.
We were given the opportnity to play whatever we wanted because they liked what we played. The only thng
was, nobody promoted it. Still, I loved it. I just love spinning. It's my oxygen. Candidly, I don't like to go anywhere
unless I'm given an opportunity to DJ. Tonight there's a Christmas Party at my mans gate and I'm trying to figure how can I DI it.
I'm baggin up my mac, Serato and xtl HD oh and a mixer with all the cables I need incase I'll be allowed to draw selection for my homie.

InI wife went on a business trip to NY and I am left to take care of the kids. I don't mind it at all, its just kinda crazy to do it with out her. Now I get a better idea of what she has to do to control these little werewolves. Going grocery shopping and feeding them is not as easy as I thought. You can't shop when their hungry. You have to have food already and notice that if you eat it tomorrow their won't be anything left so its at that point you take inventory and put a grocery list together.

When Mo came back it was clear to see that the kids were here greatest joy. She missed them so much and although she needed a break, it was hard for her to be away for so long. The kids were not changing their behavior to welcome mommy. They were the same little gremlins the were when she was away. They started begging for her to give them gum. Started crying for nothing, walking out into the street unattended. Just madness!

Still I'm happy we're back together again!

Frustrations of Being The Man

What's good? You wanna know? A father who loves his family and does whatever he can to hold them down even if they at times treat him as if he ain't ish. At work today I was asked if I heard about pro wrestler, Chris Benoit, who killed his wife, son and himself? Nah I didn't hear about it. I seldom watch the news or listen to the radio so what I'm up on is not tainted by advertising agendas.

Still this current event messed me up because all I can think about was the treasure of having a family, a life and to throw it away for what usually is a temporary problem. The other day a lady hanged herself and her daughters from what I heard was a financial issue. I'm broke, you broke, we all broke, but we do what we gotta to maintain. And where's Grandma and Auntie?
I'm thankful that I got my mother-in-law in my life because ther have been times we had nothing to eat, no way to get to work or school and she would look out for us.

If it weren't for God in my life I would be ghostface a long time ago. I've turned down opportunities to get better jobs outta state that would keep me away from home for months. There was a situation where I was hired to be the main DJ in a big club in Austin that I had to painfully reject to do what was best for the security of my home. Then there is always the temptation of runnin' up the no-question asking cake pieces you encounter in everyday life.

The Lord is my strength and if it kills me I'll stay in my position as Husband and Father, but I'm not gonna kill me self. I'll check in to a psych ward before I go that crazy. To all of you that have families or want one; remember your pain and struggle is worth it at the end of the day. Your family is counting on you because everybody else is gonna let them down. Watch.

So wha, I was in LA last month yea? It was nice and all that. Did a rave with INI Production With my mans Arly and Shakespeare.

On June 25th we did a little musical thing called ... Actually I was a big musical thing, Electric Daisy Festival. Heard of it?
Well actually, it was their 10 year anniversary. It was banoodles. The crew Umoja was in effect with the absence of Tomas, Stevie G, and B-Love, but the hardcoresome foursome gave 'em nuff more some (my nephew Jordan used to say when he was a toddler after he was given some candy that he wanted "more some").

Everybody was killing it and had the lawn RAM!

Saved for her education, put her in pretty dresses, raised her in the way she should go so that when she is old she won't depart from it.

Then the next once bounced out and we kept the same intention its just that, as you can overstand, mad challenging to support ya cause when kids require nuff energy.

I mean toting the pickney too and fro, feeding, cleaning, etc., wears you out! Now with the final entry, my son, we put most of our energy into doing whatever it takes to get them to bed so that we can at least get 5 hrs sleep.

Its Real and You Know it Gets Realler

Its 2:43 AM on Tuesday, February 21, 2006, the second day of my vacation from UPS and I have decided to stay home rather than go to LA like I had planned. Being at home will give me more time with my wife and children that I haven’t had as I have been working. I still got to my other job at 11AM, but it’s a vacation from the grunt work I do at UPS. With this I have more energy to run around with my three kids and stay awake as I talk with my wife catching up on everything I missed while I was sleep.

Being married rocks! Having a friend who wants to be your friend is priceless. I like my wife yo. The thing his I forget that she is a delicate vessel and I talk to her in a way that is les than appreciated. I don’t mean to be harsh; it’s just the way I talk. Growing up in NY its so loud and my homies would always be quick to snap on me that I built up a habit of responding with an attack whether I was trying to be funny or defending my self from whatever I deemed and insult from whomever.

February 22, 2006 At the Crib. 5:28

Today was hot. Kind of got up sluggish. Woke up around 3:30. Still institutionalized by UPS to get up at that time to go to work. My boy Naz got up with me and we had good little ole time playing on the couch. We also watched the remainder of the Jarmusch film “Deadman”. Man I wish that I had a different schedule where I could get 8 hours or more of sleep and be more involved with the kids morning routine.

We pray about that blessing which brings me to right now talking to my wife. We believe our friendship has been suffering over the years primarily due to cultural and spiritual clashes. We were recently made to understand, through bible study, that Satan is consistently building wedges between us causing discord. God won’t bless our lives, as we desire, if we are not unified. God is one. He doesn’t do anything without His Son.

That’s why the general acknowledgement of God has no power. It’s trivial to say, “God bless” and more powerful to say “In Jesus’ name.” I am learning more and more about our Savior Jesus Christ to have a relationship with Him rather than a religion.

Well unu done know say that this the yuletide (whatever that means) season and me is a man love celebrate Christmas from when I was small.

I remember I really wanted to get a walman back in the day when they first came out. Y'all remember it was a Sony Walkman© no cassette just fm and am radio. I also remember that the one I got wasn't Sony, but I didn't give a ... I was just so thankful to get a walman and it sounded so good in redlight stereo.

This year I go the same vibe I had back when because I asked for a certain mp3 player and it feels like I am going to get it! I see it under the tree right now, but I didn't peek or nothin'. I want to be surprised. That's still such a thrill. I been dying to hear my dipset mix tapes and my country music and soundclashes everywhere I go without didsturbing others or having to load CD or have had stuck to a PC. The new life begins 12-25-05.

People may think that Christmas isn't about what you get its about the birth of Christ. No doubt but it can't stop me from being stoked about my empeetree pliggidy!!! Ay big shout to my man Lavelle and my nephew Sha in the Chi. Y'all have really blessed me in this portable media journey. Also got to big up my nephew Deante who holding his down fresh to def at Texas Tech.

Its Our Anniversary

Today is my wife and I's 10 year wedding anniversary. It has been an ill ride, but we still rolling. Marriage from my point of view and belief is impossible without God. The key to its success is letting go of the idea that you have to change the person you're with so they can better suit you and that you don't have to change because that person married you for who you are.

In other words, If you marry a drunk and you try to change them by telling them there will be no drinking in the house, they will get a beer from the bar and then cheat on you. If you are a drunk and you marry someone whose parents you know were alkies so you don't change, they will wait till you go to the bar and then cheat on you.

So take my advice and don't take nobody advice and let the Spirit of God move you to the one you should be with and get ya mind right to handle a life long committment with someone you don't really know. Please pray for our marriagebecause 10 years is not really that long of a time. I talked to someone recently who have been married for like 62 years to rhatid and that really looks good on you. I believe we can make it and I feel bad for all my familyy and friends whose marriages ain't pop off like they expected, but life still goes on as Sade would say, "Why are you walking away? Hang On To Your Love!"

What a ting I just get on to iTunes. My thinking was I n I ain't got no Mac neither iPod so whe me a'do wit fi dem ting? Come to find out (if you didn't already know and don't snap on my old ass just cause I just got on!) you can get almost anything for a dollar!

I was like well dat good cah I'm spending minimum six dollars a single and have been feeling like a hypocritical pirate vicking niggas beats from Danish websites and the like.

So this here for all conscious man and fan to get ya little emps and den burn ya cd with the friggry you don't wouldn't waste 10 joint$ on NOW that's what I call music just to get that one or two top 40 pieces that you have to have for the wedding you doing, kids bday party or ya industry function where they never heard of Little Brother much less Damian Marley.

Right now, praise God, I got blessed with a lap top and I'm fixin' to DJ my first wedding with it. I'm practicing while on my vacation, but tings a run slow 'cause my crackhead cousin caught me for my DJ tool kit and now I'm short patch cords and rca's. I waan murdah him, but I forgive him since Christ forgave me for the dirt I have done quite recently (none of ya bloodKlot).

Hopefully I can get a presser that can make vinyl out of some of these downloads and then certain stores are going to start sell cigarettes and tall necks inorder to pay them over head. Nah that ain't really gonna happen as long as vinyl stays true to its way; Ill production, cool covers, and them Dirt Style© scratch records that we need to keep the chops on point.

I have yet to afford a CD DJ console, but God is able to provide turntable and that a'nuh fable. So all you DJ's that think I sold out, what do you want from me? I got three kids and no gigs how else am I to get music when I'm not inna record pool or disgustingly laced with promos as a radio jock? If you got the hook up and then hook I up.

Can I Live

I been having a hardcore bout with asthma since I started to DJ in LA from like 1990 so'm. We were doing the club B-Side in West Hollywood when at the end of the night I went home because I felt funny in my chest. I started to feel like I was gonna die so I called my man Culcha D and he came to my rescue and dragged me to the emergency. Most people who have astma acquire when they are young and then beat it as they get older. I think this is my plight but I aint really gonna stay here thinking that this will be my end. Now I got my little medications and I gotta say today is a good day.

If you nuh know what Asthma is its just that ya air passage gets swoll and your breathing becomes difficult. On top of that I got these ill algeries that I assume I inherited from migratory experiences. Born in the UK move to NY then to LA and now in The D, most bush and spore don't know me like that and not really welcoming so as a result my asthma is also triggered bt the alergies everywhere I go. But still I got my little meds for that thank God.

Imagine how much I appreciate the smell of food cooking and breathing in this good southern air on a beautiful 4th of July like this where I ain't got to go to my J.O and risk another attack from stress and strain. If you got the day off good for you if you working, well you help make America great. I aint really have nothing to say but I thought I better say something and not waste this blessing of blog I got.

Science Reunion

It was also the first time in a long time the Science crew got together. Man like Clutch, Machete, Raymond Roker, Jun, MC ?, and I did the damn thing inside this Drum and Bass extravaganza.

My brethren Hier came thru to rave with we and his crew. It was good seeing the I.
Culture D took these pictures and the boy is a rassClot nutter. My old raas put out the energy and then when mi try hold a small chill, him take the mick and took some flick. Check.

I bought one of your "nice city" cd's at the little temple recently. Great show! Great selection! After listening to your cd at home and in the ride, I gotta ask about the sound quality.
Some stuff on there is pretty distorted (check out track#9 for example - especially when buju comes in) and the levels shift constantly - I gotta keep riding the bass. It kind of takes away from your great mixing.
I'd like to know if I you have a semi-mastered version with consistent levels or if maybe I just got a bad copy.

I know it was only 5 bucks and all, but I know you take pride in your
work so just thought I 'd ask.
I buy alot of mixed cd's and trust me - your selection and steez blows
away the competition but the sound quality is kind of a drag

Pardon me for the late response. I have had some issues with my email acct. Forget the small talk let me deal with your case. I have remastered it due to some of the problems u mentioned, however some of the songs that are distorted I haven't had time to fix and test. I can re-make the cd and send you or send you the new version which has been re-tracked so that when you hit your skip button it goes to the track its supposed to rather than the middle or whatever.

The fact that I sold it for 5 quid is not an issue or excuse when it comes to quality. I didn't make it to be worth $5, I made it for those who know how I get down and love good selection. The errors technology on it was due to the setting in which it was recorded that from this point on we are learning how to bettr prepare and monitor fluxtuating levels. Culture D has a new CD that I'm a see if I can send that your way King.

Saturday the 12th 2005 in a place name Little Temple in Silverlake, CA., big sound like Umoja Hi Fi came to represent what we represent. King Tomas Ranking at the control tower mixing and blending in the two rooms with bare raggasMuffin power! Him queen did a rope in with camera a tek pickshtah. Mon a shake off we hand, ooman ah bring we water.

Culcha D and fling sweet wine under sister Anne Margaret, DJ Daz and de girls dem deh in constant sweat. Stevie G bring him somebody like sand to the beach, and CoknI the married man skank on the mic, on the stout, and a preach and teach. Jun did a control the corner from den till when. Him a ruffneck chicken who nah wrinkle nah bend.

What a way Umoja just pack up the club, CoknI sell out him CD what a way the crowd a'show love. What a danger when we draw fi de dub fi dub, Stevie G played a Stevie Wonder "Ferl Like Paradise" and niggas wanted him to wheel up!!
